While he recognizes that some cases can be resolved through settlements, Mr. Karmel is also an energetic litigator, having tried several hundred cases involving dissolution of marriage, modification of child support and parenting time, defamation, wrongful death, personal injury, construction defect, product liability, medical malpractice, and toxic torts for clients such as Capitol Properties LLC, the Western Conference of Teamsters, DMI Investments Corporation and the Portland Music Company. As a testament to his experience, he secured the largest verdict in state history for a non-public person in a defamation case. lvan has been named seven times as a “Super Lawyer” in the state of Oregon. lvan has a special interest in custody litigation, and the representation of sexual minorities. Elizabeth Savage, Attorney at Law
Elizabeth C. Savage is a trusted advisor and fierce advocate whose practice has a focus on civil litigation and family law. She enjoys settlement negotiation and trial work, and is particularly passionate about appellate practice. Prior to joining the Law Offices of Ivan Karmel in April 2014, Elizabeth served as judicial extern to the Honorable Rives Kistler and the Honorable Martha Walters, Associate Justices of the Oregon Supreme Court. Elizabeth also served as a law clerk at the Oregon Department of Justice, Financial Fraud and Consumer Affairs Division, where she worked on a variety of cases ranging from prosecution of UTPA violations to class actions against major pharmaceutical companies. Ms. Savage gained experience in estate planning and employment litigation when she worked as a law clerk and summer associate at Samuels Yoelin Kantor.
